Overview

Our Rising Tech Stars program for boys aged 5–8 blends hands-on tech learning with creative discovery. Campers explore robotics, basic coding, circuits, and maker projects while building real skills through guided experimentation. It’s the perfect age to nurture curiosity and confidence — with a well-rounded mix of science, tech, and fun.

Program Highlights

Campers start with a Paper Robot Mission. They then progress to controlling robots: using Sphero, they program the robot to draw shapes and even spell out letters by rolling in patterns. They also use Edison robots with EdBlocks (a block-based coding app) to solve. After mastering basics, they build a more complex robot using add-ons – an Obstacle-Avoiding robot that uses sensors, and a Clap-Control robot that moves with sound. These projects solidify understanding of input/output, sensors, and logic in robotics.

Scratch is a central tool for this group. Starting from the basics of Scratch (motion, events, loops), they progress through making a Baseball game and Fruit Catcher (which introduces scoring and conditions). Then they tackle building a full game: Rocket Blaster in Scratch – designing levels, using variables for score. By the end, many campers have a game that they can play and modify at home, reinforcing their coding skills and creativity.

Creativity continues to be nurtured. Projects include Recycled Crafts, String Art & Yarn Crafts, and DIY Mini Dioramas. Such activities develop design thinking and patience, and kids gain confidence in making things with their hands.

MAKTAB 5–8 includes Snap Circuits sessions. Kids will assemble circuits that light up LEDs and run small motors, learning how power flows. They will also create a snap-circuits musical doorbell – combining pieces to play a sound when a button is pressed. By doing this, they learn about switches and circuits in an approachable way. It’s often one of the most memorable parts – they feel like real engineers connecting wires (or rather snapping components).

To ensure a well-rounded experience, campers also do Chisanbop for mental math agility and continue practicing storytelling or perhaps presentations. At MAKTAB, instructors encourage kids to explain one of their projects to the group – a gentle introduction to public speaking and reflection on what they learned. This wraps the learning in a neat bow, as teaching others is one of the best ways to reinforce one’s own knowledge.

This camp is designed for boys aged 5 to 8 years, who are ready to explore technology, circuits, basic coding, and creative arts in a hands-on environment.

All sessions are conducted at MAKTAB, located in Khayaban-e-Iqbal, DHA Phase 8, Karachi — a secure and tech-friendly learning environment.

There are two batches available:

  • Batch 1: 11th June – 24th June 2025
  • Batch 2: 1st July – 18th July 2025

Each session runs from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m, Monday to Thursday.

The camp runs for 2 weeks and 3 days, 4 days per week, with 1.5-hour sessions each day. Activities are fast-paced, interactive, and highly engaging.
